The Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA), North Yorkshire Council, will be visiting some of the areas impacted from flooding during Storm Darragh in the coming week.
There will be LLFA officers visiting Kirkby Mills from 10am on Wednesday 18th December. We will be visiting Marton on either Wednesday or Thursday afternoon, time dependant.
This is a site visit and an opportunity to investigate the extent of flooding, reach out to those impacted and discuss the ongoing Property Flood Resilience scheme North Yorkshire Council are running. As part of our responsibility to investigate flooding (Section 19 of the Flood and Water Management Act) we will be investigating the mechanisms and circumstances around this flood event.
We will have forms for those interested in joining the PFR scheme: click here for the “Expression of Interest” form, and here for the “Flood Report” forms.
We already have a list of some of those impacted and will endeavour to reach out to as many residents as we can on the day. We understand that not all people will be in during the day and with such short notice, therefore, we have arranged for a series of drop in sessions in the new year.
For the drop in sessions, we will be based in a location for the afternoon and evening for local residents to drop by. The following has been arranged:
Tuesday 7th January at the Moorside Rooms from 1pm to 7pm.
Tuesday 14th January at the Moorside Rooms from 1pm to 7pm.
For those of you who have contacted us directly, thank you. We are currently working our way through these emails and will be in touch in due course, though we do hope to see you when we are out on site.
Lastly, for those without insurance, or struggling with re-insuring post flood, it may be worth accessing the Flood:Re website. Flood Re is a re-insurance Scheme that makes flood cover more widely available and affordable as part of home insurance: https://www.floodre.co.uk/
