NOTIFICATION OF HIGHWAYS WORKS ON DALE END, HIGH MARKET PLACE, MARKET PLACE AND PIERCY END
North Yorkshire Council Highways Authority have provided notification of carriageway and footpath resurfacing works in the town centre.
The works will commence with Phase 1 carriageway patching on Dale End on 10th and 11th November. Phase 2 of the works, involving footpath resurfacing to High Market Place and Market Place will commence on 12th November. The works will be suspended between 18th and 24th November to accommodate the annual fair and the weekly market on Wednesdays (both by arrangement of the Memorial Hall Committee).
The schedule of works to complete footpath resurfacing on High Market Place and Market Place will resume on 25th November. Progression of works to Phase 3 and Phase 4 will involve carriageway resurfacing to High Market Place and Market Place and carriageway patching to Piercy End.

2025 Community Awards
It has been Kirkbymoorside Town Council’s pleasure to celebrate the contributions of its townspeople in the Community Awards 2025, culminating in an evening of celebration on Saturday 27th September.
Some 100 people filled the Memorial Hall to enjoy a wonderful and varied performance by the Kirkbymoorside Town Brass Band prior to the awards, with the ceremony hosted by Angus Ashworth of Ryedale Auctioneers and awards presented by the Mayor, Joe Coughlan. Awards were made as follows:
· The Voluntary/Charity/Membership Organisation of the Year 'Kirkbymoorside In Bloom'

Kirkbymoorside In Bloom for the team’s fabulous floral displays that promote the town, provide environmental benefits and improve the wellbeing of residents and visitors alike;
· The Individual or ‘Quiet Contributor’ of the Year Dee Dowkes

Dee Dowkes for her generosity in sharing her daily rambles in photographs and words, and the joy this brings to others;
· The Young Person of the Year Lizzie Myers

Lizzie Myers for her services to Girl Guiding, and being a role model to young people and girls, as well as to the community itself;
· Kirkbymoorside Town Council’s Special Recognition Award to Dian & Nick of the Moorside Store for their contribution to the town and its residents;
· The Council’s Overall Community Achievement Award of the Year to Jean Illingworth for her work on the Kirkbymoorside Celebration/Awards Day 2024, Flood Support, Music Festival, securing grant funding for events, 10k support, and community Christmas dinner co-ordination;
· Window Dressing Competition Winner of the Year 'Something Special'

Awarded to 'Something Special' for their quirky interpretation of quite literally 'falling into autumn'. Judged by Kirsty, 'Love My Hair' as winner of the 2024 Best Dressed Christmas Window, together with the Town Mayor, Joe Coughlan.

The winners were presented with beautiful glass fused suncatchers made by the artist, Jane Pinder of the Stained Glass Centre, Cayton, Scarborough, and the event was generously sponsored by Rack Systems Engineering Ltd and Marshall Slingsby Advanced Composites to whom we extend our gratitude.
The Town Mayor, Joe Coughlan commented “We are thrilled to have organised this now annual event recognising the kindness of our residents making a positive difference to the fabric of the Kirkbymoorside community. We look forward to building on the success of this again next year.”
