The village of Sutton Under Whitestonecliffe has been without power since severe damage was caused to their electricity coverage following storm Eowyn. Northern Powergrid have been working to restore service since the outage, using emergency generators whilst they repair the damaged high voltage cables.

Unfortunately, in order for these works to be carried out and completed safely there is no alternative other than to put in place a road closure on 12th February from 09:30 – 15:30 hrs. We understand that this is a key route, and the closure of Sutton Bank will present significant disruption. Every alternative was considered before reaching the conclusion that a road closure was the only safe way to allow these works to be completed.

Northern Powergrid and their traffic management partner are fully aware of the importance of this route and the need for the works to be completed as efficiently as possible.

North Yorkshire Council have requested signs to be placed clearly indicating the closure information.
